Triple Event ( Haywood Canada Cup | Westerns | Provincials )

Preparations are well under way. In fact, a few weeks back before the recent dump of snow our trail crew was busy shoveling snow onto the bare spots. The race course is currently set for skating. The crew is waiting for this weekends snow to arrive before they lay down a classic track.

Please check the event page as there have been updates!
Updates including a change to the start of heat times of Friday. An event schedule has now been posted. And the course and stadium maps have also been posted/updated.

Trail Conditions Update Jan 29 2010

Orange Trail on January 30th by JW

Orange Trail on January 30th

Trail Name Trail Conditions
Golf Course Trail /Putter’s trail Set Jan. 28. Single track very good. This trail does overlap and intersect with the Western’s race course. Be careful, you may end up on a steep hill!!
Racers and Pacers Trail Freestyle/classic. Good. Set Jan. 26
Westerns Race Course Can be skated, no classic Jan 29th
Lighted Trail fair/good Jan 29th
Red Trail (2.5km and 5km) Classic and skate. Good Jan 28

CAUTION THERE IS WATER/ICE ON THE TRACK AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL AT 1.5 km

A new trail has been cut so most of the water/ice can be avoided. The down hill portion is poor, use the original downhill. At the bottom of the hill a right turn will lead you to a much shorter/safer route to solid ground.

Derek Martin loop can be used to avoid the problem area, it is a more difficult trail.

Red Extension Classic track set. Good, set Jan 28.
Derek Martin Loop Classic track set. Good, set Jan 28.
Blue Trail Set on the 29th. Marginal snow, watch for rocks.
English River Trail Set on the 29th. Marginal snow watch for rocks.
Orange Trail Set Jan 28. Fair Marginal snow watch for rocks
Jones Graham Freeway Trail Packed only, no track Jan 29th

The 34th Annual Manitoba *mini* Loppet for Jackrabbits

Jackrabbits!

11:00 to 2:00 Sunday January 24, 2010
Meet at the End of Highway 211

NOTE THE CHANGED START TIME AND MEETING PLACE
RSVP so I order enough hot dogs!

It’s our 16th session of the season and time for another tour. Actually, we’re combining the tour with a hot dog lunch and calling it the 34th Manitoba Loppet. Our club will not do a regular Loppet this year so its up to us!

We’ll meet at the end of highway 211 at 11 am. Most of us will ski directly to the Red-Green Cabin, but some older Jackrabbits might also ski the Blue Trail. Younger Jackrabbits and Bunnyrabbits will take the short cut.

Total ski distances:

Red-Green trail: 7 km Red trail only 5 km
Blue + Red-Green: 12 km Short cut: 4 km

Adults and Parents: Jackrabbits and Bunnyrabbits get their lunch included. If you want hot dogs and hot chocolate, it will cost you about $5. Please let me know if you want some so I can order ahead (pay me at the cabin). You can also bring sleighs to haul little ones so the entire family can come.
Bring your water bottle and dress in layers – it is going to be a very warm day.

Weather forecast: Sunday +1 C, flurries, winds E 10 k/h, great tracks
Wax of choice: Red
